Social media, in its true nature, is neither a boon nor a bane. It is a two edges sword. On its one edge it is playing a role of leadership but on the other end it is increasing misunderstanding and disinformation.

Nothing is good or bad, it is just we who make the things so. Most of the times, we blame the things we are interacting with. If we change the angle to perceive and analyze these things, our opinions may change. So, always try to understand the very thin line drawn between positivity and negativity to make our ideas mature in approach and universal in nature. This is the age of social media. Twitter, youtube and facebook are playing leading role in the cyber-space of social media.

So, our thought-process is being molded and reshaped by these social media outlets. We are being addicted of social media. It has its own advantages and disadvantages. So the net-result, as per our choice while passing through cyber-space, is again in our hands.

Advantages of social media

  1. Social media is leading the un-led nations and movements like Arab spring and Wall-Street movement.
  2. It is helping to disclose the criminals and culprits as it gives every voice a chance to get heard.
  3. It is a forum to get your voice heard and to listen the other’s opinions.
  4. Social media is a great source of inspiration and motivation as it provides first-hand and fresh knowledge about the point under-moot.
  5. By the dint of social media, our world is really becoming a global-village and this globe is shrinking day by day.

Disadvantages of social media

  1. Our family-members’ interaction is dwindling as we prefer to get connected with a facebook friend rather than with our neighbours and siblings.
  2. Fakism is on rise because majority of social media users is hiding its originality and identity.
  3. It is a platform to create a hype about sensitive issues that is not good for our social security.
  4. Social media addiction is minimizing our time for physical activity which is not a good omen for our health.
  5. It is a source of increasing misunderstanding and disinformation as social media gives negative forces an equal chance to propagate their agenda.

Punch line is, social media is playing a central role in our lives. But this role is defined by our choices how we use it. Get yourselves clung towards its positive end and enjoy social media.
